Restaurant Manager – Hospitality – (CLRMH)

Main Job Function

Our client, a vibrant and well-established restaurant and bar based in Umhlanga, Durban, is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead all aspects of the business. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on hospitality professional with strong leadership, commercial acumen, and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, ensuring outstanding customer service, effective team management, operational excellence, and sustainable profitability.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree hospitality, food and beverage or a related diploma

 Criteria

• Lead and manage all daily restaurant and bar operations.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and develop front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
• Prepare staff schedules and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
• Drive exceptional customer service and promptly resolve customer concerns.
• Manage budgets, control costs, and maximize profitability.
• Monitor inventory, purchasing, and stock control to minimize wastage.
• Analyze financial performance and implement strategies to improve results.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and liquor licensing regulations.
• Oversee maintenance of the restaurant, equipment, and facilities.
• Develop and implement strategies to grow revenue and improve operational performance.
• Stay informed of hospitality trends and implement best practices where appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Restaurant General Manager or similar senior management role.
• Proven experience managing a busy restaurant and/or bar environment.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Solid financial and commercial management experience.
• Excellent customer service and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Sound knowledge of health, safety, hygiene, and food safety regulations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Computer literacy and experience with restaurant POS systems will be advantageous
