Construction Manager – CLCM

The Construction Manager will be responsible for leading, managing, and coordinating all construction activities related to the refurbishment of a Water Works Treatment Plant. The role requires ensuring that the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, technical, and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall management and supervision of construction activities on site
  • Planning, coordinating, and controlling civil, concrete, electrical, and mechanical works
  • Managing site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Ensuring compliance with project specifications, drawings, and contract requirements
  • Monitoring project progress, programme, and budgets
  • Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and environmental standards
  • Liaising with clients, consulting engineers, project managers, and authorities
  • Attending site meetings and preparing progress reports
  • Ensuring quality control and adherence to construction standards
  • Managing risk, identifying potential delays, and implementing corrective actions
  • Overseeing commissioning and handover processes

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the construction industry
  • Proven experience in Water & Sanitation infrastructure projects
  • Experience in Water Treatment Works or similar refurbishment projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree / BTech in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng)

(Candidates registered as “Candidate Engineers” will not be considered)

 

Additional Qualifications & Experience (Advantageous)

  • Postgraduate qualification in Construction Management or Project Management
  • SACPCMP registration (Professional Construction Manager – Pr CM)
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary works (civil, mechanical, electrical)
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC / GCC contracts
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
