Transaction Advisor / Investment Manager – CVZTAIM

Main job function

Advisory company which provides various consulting services on various infrastructure and project finance transactions. They are staffed with various project advisory and development management professionals with many years’ experience in PPP projects, infrastructure projects, project finance transactions and commercial property developments working as a part of and managing multi-disciplinary project teams (refer to the company website for more details.

Seeking a candidate to play a leading role in the financial consulting and advisory team which is responsible for transaction execution, business development, financing and corporate initiatives. One of the role’s key responsibilities is to own and run complex transactions and projects (project finance transactions, public private partnerships) in various stages of development, starting from feasibility stage, to procurement, negotiations and execution and financial close. You will be supported by the internal team and appointed advisors on the projects. Prior experience and knowledge of project finance transactions and public private partnerships is a requirement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in M&A, corporate finance, private equity or project finance
  • Honours in Business Science or Commerce degree in financial mathematics, accounting or statistics with a desire to move into a direction of project and infrastructure finance or BEng (Engineering) that is financially inclined.
  • Financial acumen – the capacity to demonstrate knowledge of and insight into financial principles and processes and identify inconsistencies in data
  • Ability to apply sound business judgment and an analytical, pragmatic and creative approach to problem solving
  • Experience with working in Africa or other emerging markets is an advantage

 

 Criteria

The main duties and responsibilities will include, amongst others:

  • Provide financial advisory to various private and public entities on various projects, predominantly project finance projects and corporate finance transactions including advise on the commercial structuring, the feasibility and bankability of the projects;
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary transaction advisory team consisting of technical, legal, financial and empowerment advisors on various project finance projects;
  • Risk assessment including the identification, quantification and where possible suggestion of various strategies to reduce, transfer or mitigate project specific risks;
  • Prepare various reports relating to the transactions including feasibility study outcomes and evaluation outcomes;
  • Marking up various legal agreements and participating in negotiations (supported by external legal advisors);
  • Presentation of investment proposals, feasibility outcomes, negotiation outcomes to the various committees, sponsors, lenders etc;
  • Work with the internal financial modelling team to develop and interpret project finance models and appropriate analysis of various transactions under consideration and the preparation of all the corresponding documents and presentations;
  • Assist in arranging finance for various projects (both debt and equity markets) including interactions with rating agencies, various lenders (e.g. commercial lenders and development finance institutions) and various shareholders;
  • Play a leading role in the due diligence of various projects (supported by external advisors including legal, technical and empowerment advisors);
  • Coordinate the transaction advisory team to ensure execution and closing of projects;
  • to develop the Company’s financial advisory and commercial project management competencies;
  • take active role in business development and tenders with the objective to build a strong pipeline of projects and opportunities;
  • to assist with general project management on projects as may be required.
