Construction Manager – Reference JSCM

Our client, a leading expert in designing, installing, servicing, and modernizing systems for various building types, is seeking a talented Construction Manager to join their dynamic team in Midrand!

As a Construction Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, exceptional quality, and exceeding client expectations. Your expertise will help shape the future of transport systems and make a lasting impact on the built environment.

 

Main job function

 

  • Promote, motivate and coordinate direct activities with Installation Managers in order to deliver the overall business objectives (i.e. customer satisfaction, operational results, efficiency metrics, etc.).
  • Coordinate the development and execution of all work, optimize the work-groups, tools and means to meet the objectives of activity, yield and quality of the work.
  • Control the application of the safety and health guidelines.
  • Actively manage, develop and coach staff (quality, efficiency, customer orientation, etc.).
  • Analyse root causes for deviations, set up and follow up corrective actions.
  • Overseeing and directing construction projects from conception to completion.
  • Reviewing the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
  • Overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Meet contractual conditions of performance.
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status.
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licences.
  • Analyse, manage and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the elevator/escalator construction industry.
  • SAP experience • Good leadership skills.
  • Good financial skills (Control of project costs).
  • Business management qualification or experience.
  • Experienced in safety of elevator/ escalator installations.
  • Project management qualification / experience.
  • Knowledge of construction industry contracts (JBCC, NEC, FIDIC & JCC)

 

Criteria

  • Ability to plan for resources – subcontractor appointment, local material, storage facilities on site.
  • Ability to manage the complexities of the project through problem solving, decision making
  • Communication with customers regarding progress, issues and site requirements.
  • Communication internally regarding material issues, requirements, shortages, etc
  • A keen desire and pride in achieving deadlines, results and in excelling courage to accept responsibility.

Remuneration

R750 000 CTC per annum
