Civil Planner – CVZCP

Main job function

Planner is responsible for meticulously crafting project plans, schedules, and resource allocations. Steer Construction projects toward successful outcomes by managing timelines, budgets, and quality standards while mitigating risks and facilitating effective communication among stakeholders. Ensure Compliance and Contribute to the timely, cost-effective, and high-quality completion of projects.

Qualifications

B. Sc Degree / Diploma Civil Engineering
Professional Registration
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS) will be an advantage
  • Minimum 8-10 Year of Construction Experience
  • Previous Experience in Planning and Scheduling.
  • Project Management Experience.
  • Previous knowledge within Civil Engineering Environment
  • Understanding of Construction Practices
  • Experience with Construction Software: Proficiency in construction project Management software tools, such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project

 

 

 Criteria

  • Project Planning:
  • Develop comprehensive project plant that outline project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Create detailed construction schedules, identifying critical paths and key milestones.
  • Allocate resources such as labour, equipment, and materials to various project tasks.
  • Schedule Management:
  • Maintain and update project schedules regularly to ensure accurate tracking of progress.
  • Identify potential delays or issues and implement corrective actions to keep project on schedule.
  • Optimize the sequencing of construction activities for efficiency.
  • Resource Allocation:
  • Ensure the availability of necessary resources at the right time and in the right quantities.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source materials and equipment as required.
  • Monitor resource utilization to prevent overallocation shortages.
  • Cost Estimation and Control:
  • Assist in cost estimation and budgeting for construction projects.
  • Monitor project costs and expenses, working to keep the project within budget while maintaining quality standards.
  • Track and report cost variances and deviations.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks to the project’s success and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Regularly assess project risks and implement risk mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to minimize risks to workers.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure that construction work adheres to quality standards, specifications, and local regulations.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance and the quality of work.
  • Address quality issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Communication:
  • Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, issues, and changes.
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions to resolve project-related matters.
  • Problem Solving:
  • Address challenges and issues that arise during construction promptly and effectively.
  • Adapt project plans and schedules as needed to overcome obstacles.
  • Make informed decisions to keep the project on track.
  • Reporting:
  • Prepare and distribute reports and documentation related to project progress, costs, and other key performance indicators.
  • Ensure that project documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure that all construction activities comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Stay informed about relevant South African construction laws and regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Participate in post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
  • Implement best practices and process improvements for future projects.
  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead and manage project teams, providing guidance and support to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive working environment.

Salary

R800 000 – R1.1 per annum
