My client, a leader in warehousing and supply chain management is seeking a Warehouse Operations Manager to oversee and optimize warehouse operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance. Key responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations, leading a team, and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and service levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Warehouse Operations Management: Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, picking, inbound & outbound and storage. Ensure smooth coordination of inbound and outbound logistics, managing delivery schedules, and inventory accuracy. Monitor workflow, space utilization, and the effective use of warehouse equipment and technology. Implement best practices in warehouse management to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Inventory Control & Management: Oversee inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels while minimizing excess inventory. Implement inventory management systems to monitor stock levels, track movement, and ensure accuracy. Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to identify and resolve discrepancies. Ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment, reducing backorders and delivery delays.
- Staff Supervision & Development: Lead and manage warehouse staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation. Develop leadership skills within the team by fostering a positive and productive work environment. Manage employee relations, including discipline, coaching, and conflict resolution. Chair and manage disciplinary hearings and issue warnings when necessary. Drive team motivation and productivity, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, warehouse policies, and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA). Conduct regular safety audits, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions promptly. Organize safety training for warehouse staff and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations. Monitor equipment and warehouse conditions to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
- Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency: Analyze warehouse operations and identify areas for improvement in workflow, layout, and equipment utilization. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, logistics, and customer service, to streamline operations. Manage warehouse systems and technologies, such as Warehouse Management Software (WMS), to optimize performance.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate reports on warehouse performance, including KPIs, inventory levels, and operational efficiency metrics. Ensure all operational documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company policies and regulations. Use WMS and other relevant technologies to monitor and report on warehouse performance.
- Logistics Coordination: Manage relationships with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries. Coordinate inbound logistics, including receiving and unloading goods, verifying shipments, and handling returns. Oversee outbound logistics, ensuring timely dispatch, accurate order fulfilment, and proper documentation.
Qualifications
- Education: Relevant qualification.
- Experience: Two to three years’ experience in an Operational role within a warehouse environment.
Technical Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management software such as SAP.

Salary
R70 000 CTC per month
