Main job function
Seeking a Legal Advisor to provide expert legal support across its diverse business operations, including franchised retail, retail property development & management, and other commercial ventures. This role requires a detail-oriented and business-minded legal professional who can navigate challenging legal matters and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
This position reports directly to the CEO and includes line management responsibility for one junior legal advisor. It is a full-time, office-based role.
Qualifications
• LLB degree or the equivalent and admission as an Attorney.
• 5-10 years of experience in commercial law, property law, or corporate law.
• Strong understanding of franchise agreements, retail regulations, and property transactions.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple legal matters.
• Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills.
Criteria
1. Drafting & Reviewing Agreements:
• Leases
• Sale Agreements
• Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
• Sale of Share Agreements
• Franchise Agreements
• Acknowledgements of Debt
• Various other commercial contracts and related documents
2. Company Secretarial Duties:
• Assisting the Company Secretary in:
• Drafting and filing resolutions
• Maintaining statutory records and registers
• Ensuring compliance with company law and corporate governance requirements
3. Chairing Disciplinary Enquiries:
• Chair disciplinary enquiries
• Drafting disciplinary outcomes and recommendations
4. Overseeing Collections & Litigation:
• Managing debt recovery processes
• Overseeing litigation strategy and case management
• Liaising with external attorneys and counsel
5. Legal Compliance & Risk Management:
• Ensuring business operations comply with relevant laws and regulations
• Drafting and updating company policies
• Providing legal opinions on compliance-related matters
6. Liaising with External Attorneys:
• Managing legal service providers
• Negotiating legal fees and service agreements
• Ensuring efficient handling of legal disputes and transactions
7. Conducting Legal Due Diligence:
• Investigating legal risks in mergers, acquisitions, and business expansions
• Reviewing corporate structures and agreements for risk exposure
8. Legal Research & Advisory:
• Providing legal opinions on various matters
• Conducting research on legislative changes and case law affecting the business
Desired Experience & Qualification

Remuneration: R700k to R1.4 CTC per annum
