Our client based in Gauteng in the Engineering sector are currently seeking the skills of a Sales person-International E Commerce & B2B Marketplace Specialist
Main job function
- Online Marketplace Management
- Manage and maintain company storefronts on eBay, Amazon, Alibaba, Global Sources, and ThomasNet.
- Create, optimise, and update product listings (images, descriptions, technical spec sheets, pricing, SEO keywords).
- Ensure catalogue consistency across platforms (pricing, stock availability, technical updates).
- Monitor competitor pricing and adjust strategies to maximise conversions.
- Oversee order fulfilment coordination with warehouse/logistics teams.
- Respond to platform enquiries, RFQs, messages, and customer questions in a timely manner.
Sales & Customer Engagement
- Generate and qualify leads generated through platforms such as Alibaba RFQs, ThomasNet inquiries, Amazon seller messages, etc.
- Convert online inquiries into sales orders through solution-based selling.
- Provide technical support and product recommendations based on customer needs.
- Prepare quotations, pro-forma invoices, and commercial documentation.
- Manage international buyer relationships (USA, EU, UK, Africa, Asia).
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery timelines within approved guidelines.
- Follow up on potential buyers, abandoned carts, RFQs, or partially completed orders.
Marketing & Digital Sales Growth
- Work closely with marketing to run promotional campaigns, paid ads, and SEO optimisation for marketplace success.
- Conduct A/B testing on product images, titles, description formats, and pricing strategies.
- Generate analytics reports for sales performance on each platform.
- Suggest new platform opportunities (e.g., Etsy, TradeIndia, ImportGenius, Amazon FBA programmes).
- Support brand awareness initiatives across international online channels
Operational & Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate CRM records of international customers.
- Ensure export documentation requirements are met (commercial invoice, packing list, HS codes, COO).
- Assist with stock forecasting based on marketplace demand trends.
- Track and report KPIs: lead conversion rate, enquiry responsiveness, listing performance, ROAS, monthly sales targets.
- Ensure compliance with marketplace rules, policies, and global trade requirements
Qualifications
- Matric (required).
- Diploma/Degree in sales, marketing, business, e-commerce, engineering, or similar (advantageous).
- Additional e-commerce certifications (Amazon, Alibaba, Google Digital Skills) are beneficial
Mandatory Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years’ experience selling products via global online marketplaces (eBay, Amazon, Alibaba, Global Sources, ThomasNet).
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets via online/e-commerce channels.
- Experience listing, optimising, and managing catalogue-based industrial or technical products.
- Familiarity with international shipping, Incoterms, duties, and export processes.
- Knowledge of pricing strategies, cross-border payments, online sales funnels, and SEO for e-commerce.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of product catalogue management
- Ability to read/understand basic technical specifications (industrial products, engineering components etc.).
- Proficiency with e-commerce dashboards (eBay Seller Hub, Amazon Seller Central, Alibaba Supplier Center).
- CRM experience (HubSpot, Zoho, Salesforce, or equivalent).
- Strong Excel skills (pricing tables, discount structures, forecasting).
- Basic digital marketing understanding (SEO, PPC, keyword optimisation).
Soft Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proactive and highly responsive to international customer enquiries.
- Strong negotiation skills across diverse cultural markets.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple platform storefronts simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
- Self-driven, disciplined, and able to work independently
