Legal Officer (Mining) – AELA

We are seeking a professional legal officer to join our team on site (mine) in Limpopo.

Qualifications

  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent.
  • Admission as an attorney advantageous.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

 

Experience/Criteria  

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Legal Officer or similar in the Mining Industry.
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, and mining-related legal documentation.
  • Experience in mine site regulatory compliance, disputes, and litigation advantageous.
  • English: Fully Proficient.
  • Sepedi: Verbally Proficient advantageous.
  • Fanakalo: Verbally Proficient advantageous.
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge of South African law, including contract law, corporate law, employment law, commercial law, regulatory compliance, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, and legal terminology.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., FICA, POPIA, PAIA, etc).
  • Strong knowledge of with mining industry regulations, including health and safety standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex contract terms and negotiate agreements.
  • Excellent Administration Skills.
  • Attention to detail and able to maintain accurate and organised records and documentation.
  • Strong organisational skills, time-management, and ability to multitask.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Able to handle confidential and sensitive information ethically with integrity and discretion.
  • Proactive and self-motivated attitude, with the ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity to work effectively in a diverse workforce.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Medically fit to work on a mine.

 

 Salary:

R 500 – R800 CTC pa
