Engineering Foreman – Crushing Plant – RKEFCP

Maintenance & Inspections

  • Conduct daily inspections of the plant to distinguish between routine and planned maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure proper lubrication of all machinery and equipment.
  • Issue job cards and allocate work to maintenance staff.
  • Perform pre-production inspections to confirm plant readiness.
  • Supervise and/or maintain all mechanical equipment, including crushers, feeders, screens, conveyors, mills, fans, blowers, compressors, pumps, and any additional mechanical processing equipment on site.
  • Identify and address any wear, damage, or malfunction promptly.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is executed to a high standard to prevent recurring breakdowns.
  • Respond immediately to breakdowns to minimize production interruptions.
  • Carry out meticulous repairs and verify functionality before resuming operations.
  • Investigate root causes and implement corrective actions to avoid recurring issues.
  • Discuss persistent or complex problems with Management to develop long-term solutions.
  • Assist with the development and execution of preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate major repairs with the Mine Manager and Operations Manager to optimize plant availability.
  • Monitor maintenance history and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and cost.

Continuous improvement

  • Continuously monitor plant performance to identify opportunities to improve availability, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Implement best practices and industry standards in the maintenance and operation of crushers and other plant equipment.
  • Seek specialist advice when required and discuss with Management to ensure access to appropriate resources.

Human resources and supervision

  • Direct, coordinate, and oversee maintenance staff to ensure maximum plant availability.
  • Motivate staff and maintain a healthy and productive work environment.
  • Ensure discipline is applied fairly and consistently in line with the Company’s Code of Conduct.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and skills transfer to artisans, assistants, and learners.
  • Raise staffing concerns and resource requirements with the Mine Manager.

Safety and legal compliance

  • Adhere to and enforce all safety protocols, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and the Company’s Safety Management System.
  • Liaise with the GCC Engineer to implement action plans and remain legally compliant.
  • Report safety hazards, unsafe acts, and incidents promptly.
  • Participate in incident/accident investigations and implement corrective actions.

Legal appointment

The Employee will be required to sign relevant MHSA legal appointments as designated by Management.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in mechanical engineering OR relevant trade test
  • At least 5 years experience in an engineering / maintenance role within a crushing plant
