Main job function
The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of a high volume automotive dealership, ensuring financial integrity, profitability, and compliance. This role requires a strategic leader with deep retail finance expertise, capable of managing complex transactions, large inventories, and high value customer financing arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in compliance with IFRS.
• Manage dealership cash flow, working capital, and liquidity.
• Monitor vehicle sales margins, financing structures, and inventory costs.
• Partner with operations and sales leadership to optimize profitability.
• Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and audit requirements.
• Implement financial controls and risk management frameworks.
• Drive efficiency through ERP systems and digital finance solutions.
• Liaise with banks, auditors, and external stakeholders.
• Provide strategic input to the CEO and Board on growth initiatives.
Qualifications
• Chartered Accountant (SAICA registered).
• Minimum 10 years’ post articles experience, with at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
• Proven track record in retail or automotive dealership finance.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management, financing, and high volume retail operations.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Excel.
