The Head of Engineering is a senior executive appointment, reporting directly to the Managing Director. This is a high-accountability leadership role that sits at the intersection of technical authority, commercial delivery, and team development —
The successful candidate will be the group’s most senior engineering voice: governing the technical quality of all project work, leading on high-stakes proposals and bid engineering, interfacing directly with major clients and building an engineering function capable of scaling with the business.

Qualifications
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering (or closely related discipline)
Criteria
• Minimum 10 years of post-qualification engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead role
• Demonstrable hands-on experience with solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) — system design, integration, and commissioning
• Proven track record of engineering leadership on complex, high-value projects in a commercial or industrial context
• Competence in FIDIC contract frameworks and engineering claims / variation order management
• Strong working knowledge of South African electrical regulations (OHS Act, CoC, SANS/IEC standards)
• Experience operating across sub-Saharan African markets — understanding of cross-border logistics, in-country regulatory environments, and project risk
• Demonstrated ability to present technical content with authority to non-technical stakeholders including boards, listed company executives, and financiers
