Main job function
The main responsibilities will be to:
Technical Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, and control systems in coordination with the plant management and OEMs.
• Lead root cause analyses for major failures and recurring technical issues and ensure implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
• Conduct performance monitoring, statistical analysis, and reporting of component and system behaviour.
• Develop technical procedures, troubleshooting guides, and process documentation for solar plant equipment.
• Support SCADA and control system interface management, data validation, and testing of new firmware or software releases.
• Oversee predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance process execution and verify technical compliance.
• Validate spares compatibility and support failure analysis with the Logistics unit.
• Identify, recommend, and support implementation of technical improvements with the Operational Efficiency team.
• Assist HSEQ with technical and system-related risk assessments and safety process validation.
• Represent in technical discussions with manufacturers, contractors, certifiers, and global specialists.
Project Execution & Coordination
- Lead planning, coordination, and delivery of engineering and performance-related initiatives from initiation through close-out.
• Manage scope, scheduling, progress tracking, and quality control across multiple simultaneous activities.
• Coordinate contracts for inspections, retrofits, measurement equipment, and upgrade implementation.
• Contribute to tender specifications, bidder identification, and technical evaluation for maintenance frameworks and specialised services.
• Ensure alignment with standards, governance, and operational requirements during execution.
• Drive stakeholder communication, risk identification, mitigation tracking, and status reporting.
• Support deployment of new technologies, fleet-wide rollouts, and strategic improvement programmes.
Qualifications
- BSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering or BTech equivalent.
• 6+ years’ experience in the electrical or renewable energy sector (solar experience mandatory). - PMP qualification will be advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of industrial or utility-scale power plants. - Functional knowledge of solar PV plants technology (Inverters, PV modules, etc), with specialist training courses in these being advantageous).
• Demonstrated experience in Project Management.
Knowledge and experiences:
- Strong technical understanding of utility-scale solar PV systems, including inverters, PV system, and power distribution.
- Experience in technical investigations, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of SCADA platforms, data acquisition, and performance-analysis tools.
- Project management capability, including planning, coordination, and tracking of technical activities and overall project oversight.
- Competence in technical reporting and MS Office applications.
- Fluent in English, spoken and written.

Additional Requirements:
- Availability for travel across RSA and Zambia sites as required.
Salary
R1 million – R1.2 million per annum
