Our client based in Marlboro Gauteng are currently seeking the skills of a Solar PV Asset Engineer.
The Maintenance Engineer plays a critical role in the team, responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems post-installation. You will oversee preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications. As a key member of the operations and maintenance team, your work will directly contribute to extending the lifecycle of solar assets and maximizing their energy output.
Main job function
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on solar PV systems, including modules, inverters, and balance of system components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to electrical systems, inverters, wiring, and monitoring equipment to minimize downtime and ensure system efficiency.
- Conduct thermal imaging and performance testing to identify underperforming assets and take corrective action.
- Lead on-site interventions, including system reconfiguration, repairs, or component replacements, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Monitor and analyse system performance data using remote monitoring platforms to pre-empt potential issues and optimize energy production.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, system performance, and repairs, ensuring documentation meets industry standards and client reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations during maintenance operations.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and regulations.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or related field.
Criteria
1- 2 years of experience in solar PV maintenance, preferably within the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector.
Proven experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of solar power systems, especially in large-scale installations
Experience with solar monitoring platforms and analysis tools.
Excellent communication skills to report issues and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external contractors.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in troubleshooting and system repair scenarios
A commitment to honesty, hard work, and a passion for renewable energy.
Valid Driver’s License.
