HR Officer – RKHRO

Main job function

  • Legal Compliance: Remaining up to date on legal requirements and statutory reports (RMA, MEIBC, Furniture Bargaining Counsil, BCEA, Employment Equity, Workplace Skills plan and Annual Training Report), as well as monthly internal reporting on changes in legislation. Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations.
  • Recruitment and Selections: Being actively involved in recruitment by preparing job descriptions, posting ads and managing the hiring process.
  • Employee Onboarding, Administration and Probation: Assisting with the onboarding process. Collating contract documents. Checking and filing all new employee documentation.
  • Manage Time and attendance System: Track and manage employee work hours, ensuring accurate records and facilitating payroll processing. Assisting with weekly payroll input and liaising on payroll queries. Ensure correct Shifts are allocated to employees.  Dealing with employee leave management queries. Assisting with leave and sick leave reports and management. Ensure forms are correct and confirm and evaluate all sick notes. Allocate and confirm weekly overtime.
  • Employee Wellness: Employee support and coordinating wellness initiatives
  • Learning and development: Assisting with training reports and training agreements. Requesting training quotes and booking training courses. Tracking training in the organization. Assisting with career paths and progression planning.
  • Culture and Change Management: Being actively involved and support initiatives which improve the culture of the company.
  • Internal HR Staff Communication: Assisting with HR-related communication to and from staff (collectively and individually).
  • Disciplinary management: Responsibilities include ensuring a fair and transparent process, following the Code of Good Practice, which may include warnings, suspensions or termination. Maintain employee records including disciplinary actions. Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently.  Attending CCMA matters, demonstrate compliance with labor regulations and attend conciliation or arbitration hearings. Document all CCMA matters.
  • General HR Administration: Drafting letters for employees which range from contract amendments, confirmation of employment, employee documentation and contracts when required. Drafting memos, policies and procedures. Maintain employee records. Keep all documentation, policies and procedures compliant. Analyse HR metrics and data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement. Compiling HR reports including HR data and analytics.
  • Payroll Administration: Maintaining the Eco time and attendance system for upload into Sage wage system. Ensure that both systems are in sync.
  • Council requirements: Encumberment must have some knowledge of the bargaining council rules. Two Councils – Furniture Bargaining Council as well as MEIBC.
  • Staff and operating policies and procedures: Must be able to write and maintain company Rules, Policies and Procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant HR Qualification advantageous

 Criteria

  • Must be strong in HR as well as time and attendance / payroll systems.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
