Main job function
1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure. To manage adhoc projects and ensure successful project implementation. This role will form part of a talented team of developers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.
2. OVERVIEW OF ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
· Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
· Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
· Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
· Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
· Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
· Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
· Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
· Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
· To strictly adhere to all Departmental and Company Policies, Procedures and SOP’s
· Relevant IT Qualifications (Diploma or Degree)
· TDC and VCP Qualifications
· IT Hardware certifications advantageous (Server / storage / etc)
· Senior Certificate
Must have own reliable vehicle.
·Experience using client, console and web based management tools
·Experience in working with Application and Infrastructure monitoring solutions
·Data Center experience
·Knowledge of infrastructure and software environments, programs, methodologies, procedures and policies.
·Advanced troubleshooting skills, with deep experience in systems, network and server infrastructure, with a proactive problem prevention-oriented problem-solving mindset
·Maintaining a high transaction throughput 24/7/365 transaction processing environment
·Experience working on:
oWindows and Linux Server environments,
oNetworking,
oVirtualised environments (VMWare)
oSQL Server Databases(Understanding)
oVarious firewall devices and VPN technologies
·Active Directory and Group Policy design, testing and implementation
·VLAN management and setup
·Professional diagramming and completing of relevant documentation
·Network monitoring, troubleshooting and systems management experience
·Network disaster recovery planning and testing
·Excellent team skills
·Excellent communication, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
·Deep understanding of infrastructure/network concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, Virtualization, VMware)
·Experience in direct support of IT Technical Infrastructure components at multiple sites required
·Previous experience working with the relevant systems in use in the company’s IT Environment
·Ability to accurately identify and assist in the resolution of IT issues, risks and problems
·Excellent verbal, written and technical presentation skills
·Good ability to work as a team member and not in isolation
·Generate enthusiasm among team members
·Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model
·Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
·Manage the process of innovative change
·Understand complex IT systems and concepts as well as the implications of changes, upgrades and new project implementations
·Knowledge of and exposure to ITIL and COBIT, experience in implementation of these frameworks would be beneficial
·Possess significant knowledge of networks, infrastructures, Microsoft, Linux and SQL systems
