Main job function
• Be identified as the senior design authority, maintain an understanding of the technology / business strategies and develop the company's technology landscape roadmap and blueprints in line with the strategic business direction.
• Keep abreast of latest technology trends and emerging technologies, determine potential impact on the enterprise and drive adoption as deemed appropriate.
• Translate the business processes into detailed systems requirements (capabilities, interfaces and functionalities) within and across technologies.
• Build user stories to be leveraged for system requirements design (modular).
• Leverage business analysis & modelling tools and apply notation standards such as UML/BPMN to diagrammatically / visually document: business requirements, processes, systems processes and integration.
• Facilitate processes to ensure integrated requirements are socialised, understood and approved across the broad range of stakeholders to be impacted. (incl. risk / governance forums, change council, scrum meetings, DevOps team capability building, solution design sessions etc.)
• Understand and leverage knowledge on the organisations technical landscape, environment and broader architecture to define integration points across technical stacks for various requirements.
• Work collaboratively with project / program teams, squads, engineers to define backlog, release and DevOps / project planning implications of the requirements development and roadmap.
• Continuously improve system requirements mapping by leveraging input from questions asked and information given to consistently improve the quality of the requirements analysis for easy interpretation by the development teams.
• Work as part of the DevOps teams throughout the design process to review solution design features and functionality.
• Facilitate resolution during development & testing phases for change requirements.
• Perform and facilitate user acceptance testing on new systems / functionality.
• Review third party and vendor deliverables to provide additional detailed technology advice and guidance to ensure all technology aspects are considered in solution designs.
• Project manage third party and vendor delivery.
• Contribute to solution design standards and SDLC governance requirements.
• Manage and mentor staff. (manage operational functions, staffing levels, resources, activities, performance levels. Coach, develop and train staff – ensure adequately trained. Manage misconduct, absenteeism and handle escalated incapacity, disciplinary, grievance / HR related problems in consultation with HR and attend to staff queries.
• Use appropriate styles and methods to inspire, lead and guide individuals and teams towards goal achievement. Mentor junior staff to eventually take on senior roles.
• Matric (Grade 12) and relevant Degree / Diploma in Information Technology or Finance
• Certification in at least 2 of the following: Data Management & Analytics; SQL 2016 Database Development; BI Reporting
• Certification in Exams 761 & 778. (779 would be an advantage)
• 2 – 3 years Team leading / Supervisory experience of BI development team.
• 2 – 3 years solid experience in working as a senior BI developer in the ICT Industry
• Working experience in the Financial Industry would be an advantage.
• Good attendance and reliability / clear disciplinary record.
• Comprehensive knowledge of solution design as it relates to technology domains and technical knowledge of solution proposals: RFIs, RFPs and project teams.
• Subject matter knowledge of services platform technologies, including Cloud laaS; SaaS; containerisation; virtualisation, security and data warehousing.
• Knowledge of analysis & testing tools, frameworks, techniques and practices to elicit, define and organize business requirements.
• Able to translate and document business requirements into user stories and specifications (Full Stack, Cross System) detailing integration points and business associated risks.
• Knowledge of working with Vendors, developing application roadmap strategies and reference architecture.
• Knowledge of design standards and SDLA governance requirements.
• Knowledge of the Legislative framework applicable to Pension Funding and the management and Protection of Personal Information.
• Ability to strategize, collaborate and network for the good of the business.

• Project Management Skills: Must have excellent planning, organising, work to stringent deadlines and work under considerable pressure and be able to manage and co-ordinate IT related projects
• High level analytical, problem solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent computer literacy, E.g. Word, Advanced Excel and Microsoft Outlook
• Excellent communication skills (Report writing, questioning, listening and verbal)
