Main job function

We are a leading Systems Integration company specializing in providing comprehensive instrumentation and automation solutions to various industries. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Instrumentation/Automation Technician to join our team. As a Senior Technician, you will play a key role in overseeing the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and automation systems at client sites. This position requires technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities:

1.      Project Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of technicians in the installation, integration, and commissioning of instrumentation and automation systems at client sites. Provide guidance, training, and support to team members.

2.      System Design and Engineering: Collaborate with engineers to review project specifications, develop system designs, and create detailed engineering drawings. Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.

3.      Installation and Integration: Oversee and participate in the installation, configuration, and integration of instrumentation and automation systems, including sensors, controllers, transmitters, actuators, and associated equipment. Ensure proper system functionality and compatibility.

4.      Maintenance and Calibration: Develop and implement maintenance strategies and procedures for instrumentation and automation systems. Perform complex maintenance tasks, such as inspections, calibrations, and repairs. Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and regulatory standards.

5.      Troubleshooting and Advanced Repairs: Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex issues related to instrumentation and automation systems. Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify problems, analyze data, and implement effective solutions.

6.      Quality Control and Testing: Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans and procedures for instrumentation and automation systems. Perform in-depth system tests, verify performance, and document results. Lead efforts to address any issues and ensure compliance with project specifications.

7.      Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of all activities, including installation procedures, maintenance records, calibration reports, troubleshooting logs, and project documentation. Generate clear and concise reports for internal and client review.

8.      Client Relationship Management: Interact professionally with clients, addressing their concerns, providing technical support, and maintaining strong relationships. Serve as a point of contact for client communication and collaboration throughout project execution.

9.      Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices related to instrumentation and automation. Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and enhanced service delivery.

10.   Health and Safety: Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards. Conduct regular safety assessments and implement corrective measures as needed.

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor's degree/National Diploma in a relevant technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

·        Extensive experience in instrumentation and automation systems, including installation, integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

·        In-depth knowledge of automation technologies, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and human-machine interfaces (HMIs).

·        Strong understanding of electrical and electronic principles, including wiring, circuitry, and measurement techniques.

·        Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.

·        Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and supervise a team effectively.

·        Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex issues and implement innovative solutions.

·        Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and commitment to delivering exceptional results.

·        Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with clients, engineers, and team members.

·        Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, software, and test equipment relevant to instrumentation and automation systems.

·        Proficient computer skills, including experience with PLC programming and SCADA configuration.

·        Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
