Job Description:

Swedish mining company is looking for a driven and committed Resource Geologist who wants to contribute to a sustainable mining the region. The role requires a degree in Geology with at least 5 years of experience in Mining or exploration of open pit mining (Iron ore). This is permanent role and will require relocation to Sweden. The successful candidate must be willing to learn Swedish/Finnish.

Main job function

Will be part of the mine planning department that is responsible for both short and long-term mining planning, surveying, geology, and grade control and will report into the Mine Planning Manager

The work conducted will be in an environment of constant change placing a high demand on safety and safety awareness

Responsible for the development and updating of block models for their various iron ore deposits

Previous experience in working with block models, databases, geostatistics, etc.

Must be able to independently run projects around this

Support, involve and educate younger geologists

Help shape routines and working methods

Work in close cooperation with the exploration department and be involved in the development of their projects

Tasks will also include the follow-up of mined and processed ore in the mine (reconciliation)


University degree in geology

Post grad qualifications

Practical and theoretical knowledge in ore modelling/resource calculation


At least five (5) years of relevant experience in exploration and/or mining operations

Advantageous if previously worked with iron ore

The reporting of their Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves intends to comply with the Pan-European Standard for reporting of Exploration results, Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves (The PERC Reporting standard 2017) which is why sound knowledge about PERC, or another CRIRSCO-based reporting standard is required

Manage software such as Leapfrog, Surpac, Vulcan or Datamine

English and/or Swedish is a requirement and Finnish is a merit 

A valid Code B drivers license

An outgoing attitude and willingness to collaborate with others is highly valued

Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work efficiently, setting timeframes and keeping within them
