Job Description:

Quality Assurance Technologist 

Leading importer and distributor of fine products to both retail and wholesale customers in Australia.  With over 1000 product lines and global supplier network.  This leading company requires a Quality Assurance Technologist in their Cape Town Office.  This person is the custodian of, and leads the continuous improvement initiatives such as “Lean” and “Cut to Spec” by driving a best practice culture within the Plant and at key raw material beef and lamb suppliers. 

Key Responsibilities:

Provide quality related guidance to the Technical, NPD and Operations teams.

Establish or assess complete Raw Material specifications for Meat Plant in line with customer requirements and best industry practice.

Document all generic product process procedures to ensure current tacit information is converted to explicit records or documentation together with the Process Technologist.

Give quality related input into innovation of NPD including product, process and packaging.

Manage, motivate, develop, coach and lead Quality Team members as a group and individually.

Take accountability for site audits and compliance requirements.

 

Create and maintain constructive relationships with the retail, QSR and catering customers.

Qualifications:

Must have a BSC in food science or equivalent

 

Computer literate

Experience:

Requirements:

3-5 years’ experience within FMCG industry.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

A good understanding of Prerequisite Programs.

Knowledge of meat industry related legislation.

Valid driver’s license.

Experience of FMCG manufacturing – preferably high volume food manufacturing including forming, coating and breading lines.

Food quality, microbiology, chemical analysis, food hygiene, Health and Safety requirements in food manufacturing.

Understanding of quality assurance, procedures and protocols. 

Understanding of industry and audit requirements.

Understanding of internal and external audits.

Understanding of industry and customer audit requirements/ certifications.

Passionate about food.

Analytical thinking.

Willing to put in the hours as and when required.

Strong Problem solving skills.

Ambitious to achieve targets.

Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative.

Resilient and able to cope with setbacks.

Strong communication skills.
