An industrial property company is looking for an experienced Financial Accountant that has strong financial acumen and excellent leadership capabilities.

Main job function

 

Duties & Responsibilities

​​Prepares monthly financial reports.

Reviews Balance Sheets and Income Statements per property to verify account balances and reasonable revenue and expense amounts.

Ensures accuracy of all general ledger information

Ensures that all property and tenant information is up to date and correct through lease interpretation and cross-referencing against other property information

Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual recoverable charges reconciliation.

Performs quarterly reconciliations and assembles the necessary detail and back-up for the tenants.

Preparation of annual budgets

Review of budget performance

Monthly review and monitoring of actuals against budgets

Report on actual performance against budgets

Prepares monthly management reports, including budget, payroll, insurance and tax information.

Ensures reports/documents are forwarded to auditors and maintains applicable documentation.

Informs management as to any discrepancies or any other problem areas that may exist that arise from the audit.

Ensure updated and accurate information and reports are generated on MDA and submitted to Management.

Provide analytical reports and schedules.

Prepare monthly statements by collecting data, analysing, and investigating variances, summarising data.

Respond to financial enquiries by gathering, analysing summarising, and interpreting data.

Prepare specialised reports by studying variances, preparing budgets, and developing forecasts.

Ensure monthly billings are executed.

Supervising and signing off on creditors and debtors  

Monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts

Supervising and managing the Finance department and assuming accountability for the execution of their task and responsibilities

Reviewing monthly VAT Returns and reconciliations

Monthly bond reconciliation to statement

Monthly group loan reconciliation (including interest calculations)

Monthly income and expenditure variance analysis as well as investigation of large variances

Reconciliation of debtors and creditors general ledger to age analysis

Assistance with budget preparation

Assistance with monthly management accounts and interims

Preparation of the general ledger accounts

Preparation and interpretation of annual financial statements and cash flows

Preparation of current and deferred tax computations

Reconciliation of general ledger accounts to supporting schedules

Preparing fixed asset registers

Preparing bank reconciliations

Reconciling long term borrowings and instalment sale agreements to amortization schedules, correctly accounting for finance and bank charges

Assist external auditors during the audit.

Will report directly to the CEO, CFO and MD

Meets Accounting Department calendar deadlines.

Assists Accountant(s) with preparation of monthly funding requests.

Makes bank deposits as required.

Assists with preparation of bank reconciliations.

Assists with the preparation of business plans and special projects.

Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Improves process related to above duties and responsibilities.

Qualification

Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or other relevant Accounting Degree

Experience:

Experience/Criteria

MDA experience will be advantageous.

Minimum of 3 years of experience within the property/construction sector is preferential.

Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience is mandatory.

Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
