Job Description:

A Cape Town based Unit, part of a very exciting Global Company is building a new hybrid IT infrastructure and is in the market for an experienced Network & Infrastructure Engineer reporting to the Head Office in London.

Main job function

Implement, maintain and support current and future LAN/WAN network technologies

Support of Microsoft server related components including but not limited to Active Directory, Exchange/O365, Azure cloud, PKI, SSO, Operating Systems

Be a critical part of a busy and dynamic global Infrastructure team who deliver the highest levels of support whilst meeting company SLAs

Proactive monitoring and network performance analysis to improve availability, utilization and bandwidth usage

Troubleshooting LAN/WAN/wireless networking and security related issues

Assist with wider teams to design, plan and execute network & infrastructure upgrades

Ensure security and compliance of global network infrastructure and ensure network strategy adheres to security policy and PCI-DSS regulations

Be a point of escalation for network and infrastructure matters

Assist in the documentation of high-quality diagrams, policies and procedures

Provide 24x7 on call support on rotation with other engineers (approximately one week per month)

Qualifications:

Relevant Degree/Diploma

At least 5 years relevant experience at Senior level

Experience:

Hands on Network & Infrastructure support experience in a large multinational environment

Strong English speaker, comfortable with communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Cisco switching, routing and firewalling (CCNA/CCNP desirable)

A solid IT infrastructure background with prior (and current) experience in the core infrastructure technologies (virtualisation, servers, storage, cloud) (VMWare, Microsoft)

Proven understanding of TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, BGP, Ethernet, QOS, IPSEC VPN, PKI, Radius

A good understanding of the Microsoft datacentre and operations technology stack (Windows Server and Desktop)

Experience managing Linux based systems

Proven ability to troubleshoot network and connectivity issues including backbone infrastructure issues

Experience with LAN Routing and Switch troubleshooting (VLANs, IP Subnetting)

Good understanding of virtual networking concepts and infrastructure

Good understanding of Microsoft server technologies (VMWare NSX desirable)

Ability to easily travel

Experience working in a large multinational environment
