Job Description:

A great opportunity exists for a Managing Director, with Automotive/electrical parts or appliances experience based in Lusaka, Zambia with a large organization.

Main job function

Be responsible for the overall operations of this company which operates mainly in the automotive aftermarket

Automotive service items (filters, wipers, plugs, etc)

Auto electrical products (starters, alternators, lighting, batteries, etc)

Hydraulic pipes and hoses

Generators, up to 1,000kVA, sales and installation

Power tools (drills, grinders, saws, etc.) plus hand tools

Forestry tools such as chain saws and brush-cutters

Pressure cleaners

The incumbent will also be responsible for the marketing, operation, and strategic development of the Diesel Fuel Injection, Electrical, and Generator Repair Workshops

Qualifications:

Candidates must be in possession of a nationally recognized Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree or Higher Diploma: this is essential

A further business qualification such as an MBA is also required

NOTE: 

Candidates with no tertiary qualifications should not apply, as they will not be eligible for a Zambian work permit

Experience:

Minimum 20 years in a senior management position within the automotive or related industry plus proven track record of success

The successful candidate will need to have proven skills and experience in the following disciplines:

Marketing, customer liaison and on-site visits to customers

Quote preparation and negotiation

Placing orders on suppliers

Managing inventory and spare parts

Strong technical knowledge of the automotive and related industries

Knowledge of the heavy commercial vehicle industry

Ability to lead a team of Technicians, Financial Controllers, Buyers, Sales Reps and Stores Personnel

Financial reporting and accountancy

Administration and excellent computer literacy
