Client in the Higher Education sector is seeking the services of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor for the DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS to join their team based in Grahamstown
Main job function
All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognizing that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level.
At least a PhD in Statistical Sciences or Mathematics (but not in Operations Research / Applied Statistics / Demography / Decision Science / Analytics / Applied Mathematics*)
Experience in teaching/ability to teach (dependent on the academic level applied for) in the following disciplinary areas:
Mathematical Statistics (at undergraduate and postgraduate levels):
Generalized Linear Models
The Department of Statistics teaches mathematical statistics with emphasis on the development of the statistical theory and its subsequent application thereof and not necessarily the application of stats.
Engaging in curriculum development
Facilitation of learning
Assessment of learning
Evaluation of teaching
Support of students in their studies
Supervision of post-graduate students (where the person has the appropriate qualification to do this)
Assume leadership responsibilities as they related to teaching and learning
