Job Description:

Leading client in the Office supplies industry is seeking the services of a dynamic, experienced and exceptional KEY ACCOUNT MANAGER to join their team based in Durban

Main job function

To manage the commercial relationship with existing large and multi-site blue chip clients proactively.

Contacting clients to maintain a consistent high level of service delivery, whilst identifying further new business opportunities.

Meeting with clients face to face or via webinar technologies to provide, educate and promote the business through presentations, demos and usage reports in order to give the Company the edge.

Maintaining the revenue and gross profit of each account ensuring they remain profitable in line with annual targets, exhausting all additional revenue streams opportunities.

Providing unique reporting with the assistance of the Administrator.

Manage the relationship from a global stand point so that the regions can benefit from your knowledge of the account.

Drive New National Business for the group, as per KPI’s.

Regular visits to clients (3 clients per day)

Monitoring the day to day commercial performance of each account within a portfolio.

Regularly liaising with existing clients to identify old / new business opportunities.

Liaise with the clients to drive the category management with the client. Extension of Catalogues and ordering process.

Progressively manage an opportunity pipeline, closing all possible opportunities to achieve a Gross Profit result in line with quarterly targets.

Ensuring all clients understand the services on offer from/by The Company.

Project management of the roll-out of all new contracts and services.

Provide the Reps with direction on your accounts. This means that the Key Account Manager must know the following: Declining Categories, Non-Buying Regions, Unmanaged Accounts and the Expectation of that Rep on the Accounts.

Carry out analysis and produce reports on a monthly and as and when required basis about the clients.

Daily liaison with other members of the team to provide information and ensure that customers receive excellent customer service and suppliers provide consistent services.

Managing a range of customer projects at any one time.

Advising on changes and trends in the marketplace and the activities of competitors.

To undertake tasks and projects as agreed that are within jobholder’s experience, skills and capabilities.



Relevant financial qualification

Excel skills essential

Customers, Potential Customers & Suppliers, Government Agencies & Local Authorities.

Have reasonably good negotiating skills along with good communication and interpersonal skills

Good, clear speaking telephonic manner

Prepared to work flexible hours when required

Able to work in a team and use own initiative
