Main job function

Responsibilities

 

Scheduling and overseeing Preventative Maintenance of the Serer / Systems Infrastructure

Ensure 99.99% availability of the systems Infrastructure

Liaise between System Engineers and Development Team

Serve as part of the Resolution team for system incidents

Monitor and support systems and virtualization environments

Manage configurations for all systems

The effective provisioning, installation, configuration and maintenance of systems hardware, software, virtual and related infrastructure

Control and verify system backups and file archiving, ensuring all required file systems and data are successfully backed up to appropriate media, media is stored and recycled.

Experience within a helpdesk environment

Liaise with service providers to ensure agreed SLAs are maintained

Do training /certification in relevant knowledge areas

Development and maintenance of security protocols and controls

Maintenance and development of business continuity solutions and disaster recovery

Perform regular audits

Form part of a standby roster for after hour support

Weekend work required from time to time based on a roster with possible 24/7 shift work

Qualifications:

Relevant IT Certificates in regards to DevOps

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems

Experience:

Technical experience:

Previous working experience as a DevOps Engineer for 2 years

Knowledge of virtualization (VMWare / Proxmox) 2 years

Working experience and knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift 2 years

Knowledge and experience with configuration tools (Ansible, Puppet) 2 years

Experience monitoring stacks (Cacti, Elk, Grafana / Prometheus) 2 years

Knowledge and experience with Software Version control systems (e.g., GIT, SVN etc.) 2 years

Knowledge and experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Gitlab and / or Travis CI)

Familiarity with networking architecture (Loading Balancing, TCP/IP, Routing) 2 years

Knowledge and content delivery network (Akmai) 2 years

Knowledge of Web Front-End Technologies (NGINX/F5) 2 years

Knowledge of Databases (MYSQL, Mongo) 2 years

Scripting or programming skills for automating tasks (Perl, Python, Shell) 2 years

Linux server (Alma, CentOS/RedHat, Ubuntu, Debian) 3 years

Understanding of Couchbase, Kibana, RabbitMQ, Firebase, Graylog, Backup methodologies:2 years

Internet technologies – DNS. SMTP, Proxies, Cache 2 years

Security best practices (hardening, vulnerability scans, DMZ0 2 years
