Job Description:

An exciting new vacancy has become available for a Junior Application Support Engineer for Africa’s leading payments company.

Main job function

This role reports to the Application Support Team Lead and will be based in Cape Town.

The ideal candidate for the role is someone with a keen interest in adding onto their already well-developed technical skills and background, combined with a positive, confident and problem-solving attitude.


BSc Computer Science Degree, IT Diploma, MCSE, Comptia Certification Stack or similar - would be advantageous


Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as Application Support Engineer/Technician would be advantageous

Technical knowledge of Web Applications, Mobile Applications, API logs, SQL, SDLC, Json, HTML, PHP

Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) tools and processes

Experience in Systems Health Monitoring

Experience in Knowledge Management processes

Experience in Change Management

Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills

Duties and Responsibilities include, but is not limited to:

To provide 1st and 2nd line support for Application Support

Troubleshooting, documenting and tracking complex technical issues from clients to ensure quick resolution

Pro-active system health monitoring

Working effectively with other team members to reach SLA's and productivity levels

Take on role as ultimate owner over all support requests logged with the Application Support Team

Act as central communication piece for all Application related issues & changes

Liaise and collaborate with third party service providers and partners to resolve system issues

Liaise and collaborate with members across all internal departments, call centre and branches to resolve system issues

Adhering to standard operating procedures and quality control processes

Contribute towards the company knowledge-base

Conduct end-user training

Assist with Change Management

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company products and services
