MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To design, implement, and maintain industrial control systems that are safe, efficient, and compliant with regulations. This involves integrating various control systems, staying updated with automation and control engineering principles, and ensuring the security of the systems against cyber threats. The job also includes developing maintenance plans, implementing industrial IoT solutions for operational efficiency, driving innovation in control systems, managing projects from conception to completion, improving processes and managing risks, optimizing energy usage, monitoring performance, providing leadership and supervision to the control systems team, and managing stakeholder relations and client service.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Manage control system design and integration throughout division

Manage project management initiatives relating to industrial control (Investigation, motivation, budgets and execution)

Identify, and assess risks and develop strategies to mitigate risk factors

Identify and implement continuous improvements in efficiency and effectiveness Manage resource allocation and utilisation

Lead and supervise teams and staff

Manage stakeholder relations and client service within function. Manage and control unit budgets / finances

 

Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION

 

Essential Education

Relevant and recognised tertiary qualification:

National Higher Diploma/Btech in Electrical high or light current OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Mechatronics

OR

Bachelor of Sciences in Electrical Engineering OR Bachelor of Sciences in Electronics Engineering

 

Desired Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR Bachelor of Sciences in Engineering

Experience:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

 

Essential Minimum Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the maintenance or design of electrical / control systems

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in PLC programming

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in SCADA integration and programming

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Industrial networks (Profibus/Net, EtherNet, IOT, etc.) Water and energy management experience

Minimum of 5 years management experience

 

Desired Experience

Measurement and verification of plant equipment

Performance evaluation of building, plant and equipment

Experience working in a healthcare environment.

 

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

Business objective and strategies

Computer literacy in MS Office (SAP PM’s would be an advantage)

Deep understanding and expertise in designing and implementing industrial control systems, including SCADA, PLC, DCS, and HMI systems

Excellent communication & interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal & external stakeholders. Proficiency in managing client expectations, addressing deviations, & resolving complaints while adhering to service level agreements.

Familiarity with regulatory requirements, standards, and guidelines pertaining to industrial control systems, ensuring compliance and adherence to relevant regulations

Financial planning / budgeting

Proficiency in planning, organising, and managing projects, from conception to completion, while ensuring they are completed within allocated timeframes and budgetary constraints

Proven track record in water and energy savings methods Proven track record of renewable energy plants and systems Risk analysis and risk prioritisation

Strong knowledge and application of risk management and control

Strong knowledge of automation and control engineering principles, theories, techniques and the ability to apply them effectively in the design and maintenance of control systems

Strong leadership skills to effectively supervise & lead personnel involved in SCADA & industrial control system implementation and management. Ability to motivate and support team members, provide necessary training, and foster a positive work environment
