Job Description:

Client in the higher education sector is seeking the services of a dynamic, experienced and creative GRAPHIC DESIGNER to join their team based in Durban.

Main job function

The incumbent will be expected to create the visual components of various types of media including magazines, promotional and advertising material

The designer or graphic artist takes verbal ideas from a client and develops a creative way to capture both the emotion and information

Undertake project design, consult with and provide advice and solutions for print and electronic presentations.

Bringing the brief and concept to life based on the clients needs and vision.

Keeping budget, time and production constraints in mind.

Preparing mock-ups and presenting to Marketing Director and Marketing Manager before deciding on a final design/concept.

Ensure signoff/approval before finalising artwork.

Working and collaborating with art directors, copywriters, photographers and other Designers.

Adapting and rolling out approved concepts to various media

Adhering to the brand identity and guidelines.

Communicating with internal and external stakeholders about progress of projects and any issues that may arise.

Working with external departments to extend concept and visuals to other internal and external marketing-related material.

Making sure artwork is correct and supplied in the right format/sizes/colour codes before being sent to press and production facilities.

Work on multiple briefs at the same time.





Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a graphic design environment

Proven graphic designing experience

Knowledge of professional and technical aspects of graphic production, editing & proofing.

Up to date with industry leading software and technologies (In Design, Illustrator,

Dreamweaver, Photoshop etc)

Highly proficient in all design aspects

Professionalism regarding time, costs and deadlines

Be creative, adaptable to trends and conceptualise original ideas.

Have a strong, well-rounded portfolio that showcases your individual design aesthetic.

Good communication skills to accurately convey your concepts to clients and team members.

Be a skilled user of design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.

Mindful of the needs, time and costs associated with what you will be delivering.

Have an active interest in art/design and passionate about the work you deliver

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

Excellent organisational, scheduling and planning skills.

Knowledge and experience on all social media platforms

Ability to manage different priorities and meet deadlines.

Awareness of current affairs and a passion for finding out new information.
