Job Description:

A leading company based in Durban is seeking a General Manager: Factory to find opportunities to improve and lead the team by focus on developing a team that is well able to achieve organisational objective of industry leadership. 

Main job function

Communicates’ clearly and professionally in written and oral forms to both internal and external clients

Generates and acts on new ideas that add value to the business. Looks at different ways to solve problems and address difficulties   

Sets goals and achieves them with enthusiasm and determination

Has a good understanding of the business environment and the impact their behaviour has on the reputation of the Company

Interacts with both colleagues and customers in a manner that reflects integrity, honesty and fairness

Demonstrate a desire to address customer needs and does so in a professional manner

Works effectively within a variety of situations, individuals and groups applying the “whatever it takes” attitude

Establishes a clear course of action to achieve long or short – term goals in an organised manner

Possesses the level of technical skills to preserve and / or enhance the quality of services provided by the Depot

Demonstrates effective organisational abilities by delivering work according to deadlines and monitors the general adherence of their staff

Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business

Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities

Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network

Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization

Research and build relationships with new clients

Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives

Participate in pricing the solution/service

Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately

Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships

Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs

Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs

Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends

Present to and consult with senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels

Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales

Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate

Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team

Present business development training and mentoring to business developers and other internal staff.

Understand the company’s goal and purpose so that will continual to enhance the company’s performance.

The General Manager is expected to lead the production team, admin teams as well as further sales team

Qualifications:

Relevant Tertiary Qualification

Experience:

5 – 7 years Retail Industry experience, of which at least 3 years were in a senior management position

A good understanding of factory operations

A good understanding of HSE principles

Relevant tertiary qualification

Knowledge of Syspro will be advantageous

Commercially astute

Has good business acumen

Ability to build relations

Leadership

Good financial acumen

Carry out multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Detail orientated

Good communication skills as constant communication with the team is vital

Ability to meet deadlines and good attention to detail

Assist in general administrative functions of the department
