Job Description:

A large Company based in Durban is seeking an Electronics Procurement Specialist. As an Electronics Procurement Specialist, your role is to source leading electronic components. Not only will you be placing orders, negotiating and liaising with suppliers to get the right electronics on time and in budget, but you will also be expected; with your electronics experience and knowledge, to give input and add value in finding the best possible and effective solution




Main job function


Operational efficiency and excellence


Your primary focus is to increase profits through well thought out procurement decisions and maximise production efficiencies during the process. Bearing in mind one of the main goals to become fully sustainable and green to the environment


Process orders timeously and with clear instructions to prevent unnecessary delays


Coordinate supplier deliveries according to the production plan while communicating effectively with the production team to ensure all tasks and activities are aligned


You will need to be able to effectively manage and organize documents accurately, collect and store data relating to supplier quotes, price lists and MSDS data sheets.




You will need to come up with innovative ideas and solutions in regard to products and services in the electronics department. This includes and not limited to advancing; raw material, production processes and supply chain


Industry knowledge


Keep abreast and ahead with the industry, encourage you to grow and develop in your space by; visiting suppliers, trade visits and keep up to date with changes in the internal and external environment in which they operate


Supply chain management


This role will require you to have a good understanding of the raw materials, the service suppliers provide in terms of what they are able to offer, and the cost involved


Develop an efficient supply chain which will mitigate any risks and that will advance the business


Network and collaborate


With your professional and positive approach; continue to build relations as well as build new relationships with suppliers and your stakeholders

At least 1 Year Higher Certificate in Electronics and 3 years’ experience working with electronics / in electronics procurement




Experience and knowledge of working on an ERP system – reporting, processing and analysing


Experience using Excel, PowerPoint and email management


You will need to have a proactive, forward thinking and innovative approach in coming up with solutions in your everyday tasks


Be a team player and able to communicate professionally and effectively (verbal and written) on different levels; from your team members to MDs of the business; this includes your ability to take instructions effectively


To be successful in the role, you will need to have strong numerical skills and be able to calculate and problem solve


You need to be proactive in taking action with a sense of urgency


An ever changing and flexible environment where you will need to be able to adapt and be resilient. It’s also an environment which can be chaotic and demanding, so having the skills to multitask, prioritize and maintain composure will be required from you


It’s important in this role that you are organised and have strong attention to detail to ensure tasks and process are carried out effectively


We live in an era where computers, electronics, laptops, and automated machines are a part of our daily lives. A time where ordinary people are creating 3-D models with VR and we have flying gadgets taking photos and videos of the world around us. So, with this said, you will need be computer literate with advanced skills in excel.
