Main job function
Performing electrical work related to preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on all plant equipment. The Lead Electrician plays a vital role in the task of ensuring maximum machine availability to production. This is accomplished by constantly improving and not just fitting new parts but doing proper RCA on each breakdown to eliminate the cause by applying first time right. In charge of his own planning and will be kept responsible for the throughput and planning of work allocated to him. Assisting outside contractors to perform work on plant equipment and new installations. Will have to perform work during over time when plant is shut and also be available for standby as set out on the standby schedule.
Safety
PPE must be in working condition and full kit all the time except when out of danger. Report any risk exposure or danger to the supervisor
Ensure safe working environment for all personnel surrounding your work area.

Plant auditing and running inspections
Technical support
Will support production with difficulties on machine setup and quality issues.
Assist in fault finding with breakdowns all maintenance personnel will help each other to problem solve and find the best solutions.
Communication
Report all machines related safety issues to Engineering Manager
Notify Engineering Manager of any spare parts needed and supply correct technica information needed to source and supply parts.
Administration
All paperwork is to be kept up on a daily basis.
Matric with maths and science
Trade tested Electrician
N6 / B Tech Diploma in Electrical Engineering
PLC Course Drivers and Encoders, Porfi-bus and other communication systems
Experience in HMi’s
AC and DC drives DMS training, Boiler maintenance and Operation Course / SAP
5 years experience in maintenance of high speed production plant
A good understanding of preventative maintenance and planning own work schedule.
Intimate knowledge of site work and safety issues surrounding site activities.
A good knowledge of fault finding and mechanical problems like changing bearings.
Able to read drawings.
Working at heights
Valid drivers license
