Main job function
Health and Safety – ensure all operators / drivers have completed and understood essential mandatory training and / or safe working procedures
Ensure the safety of employees under your control
Ensure the safe use and operation of machinery, including completion of daily safety checks
Report and incidents, near misses and safety conversations in a timely manner.
Adequate control of, and prevention of theft of machinery, equipment, stocks, and other assets.
Manage the working hours of staff and company policy.
On going work with the team towards “World Class” Health and Safety.
Agronomy – Managing drill programs to meet customer sales programs
Calibration of all drills, fertilizer spreaders and sprayers
Ordering of seeds, fertilizers, and sprays
Ensure drilling of crops in accordance with the drilling programs
Growing of crips complying with specific PPPL’s and fertilizer standards
Comprehensive variety trials program
Ensure accurate records are continually updated daily
Follow company policies with respect to water contamination / quality and food hygiene / food safety legislation.
Vehicles, Machinery and Equipment – Ensure all machinery and equipment receive timely maintenance
Ensure safety and security of vehicles, tractors, and machinery / equipment
Ensure daily check sheets are accurately completed and submitted to the office in a timely manner
Development – Develop and retain skilled staff through good and timely EPRs and PDPs, providing on – going support for all key staff, including key seasonal staff. Develop a multi skilled and cross functional team to ensure flexibility and up skilling of your team
Explore opportunities and innovate to introduce ne / technology and precision farming techniques, drive teamwork.
Record keeping – effective and efficient planning
Timely, accurate and organized recording of all relevant information
Fully compliant at all times for audits
Agricultural, Health and Safety
The ideal candidate would be responsible for Crop Programs and rotation, land preparation, drilling, irrigation – operations and maintenance, Agronomy, trials, and profit by crop. Reporting to the Farm Manager.
Liaising with Agronomists, Health and Safety Officer, Farm operations, Workshop Teams, Harvest and Weeding Managers, Packhouse, Compliance, finance, and HR Teams.
To produce crops safely and efficiently to World class standards with a strong focus on planning and attention to detail, using the latest technology and ideas available.
Achieve the highest standards of Health and Safety and Food Safety, to complete operations in timely, efficient manner and to program. Profit by crop, drive teamwork and development, maximize efficiency resources.
