Job Description:
 

Our client based in Cape Town have an opportunity for a Credit Life Claims Assessor. The successful incumbent will be responsible for claims administrative responsibilities in respect of long-term insurance products

 

       

Main job function

 

 

 

Process and check individual life claims such as death, funeral, lump sum disability, cancer, critical illness, retrenchment, road accident injury and temporary disability claims

 

Doing regular follow-ups to obtain outstanding claim documentation

 

Requesting affidavits from clients confirming their unemployment status for continued payment of the retrenchment benefit

 

Maintain and update claims register

 

Interacting with medical aids, hospitals and medical practitioners regarding medical history required and relevant to assessing the claim.

 

Assessing claims and making final claim synopsis decision

 

Liaising with the reinsurance companies regarding the claim decision

 

Dealing with client queries either telephonically or via e-mail correspondence

 

Arranging for and approving claim payments and Reinsurance refunds

 

Drafting reports and compiling timelines for Management

 

Providing input for claim related template improvements

 

Other administration related functions

 

Compiling and collating the claim case data files required by the Auditors

Qualifications:
 

Matric

 

Insurance related qualification

 
Experience:

Good written, reporting and verbal communication skills

Good negotiation skills and effective in dealing with customers

Ability to apply administration principals and work with detail and a high level of accuracy

Intermediary MS Office, especially Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook skills

Good time management

Excellent planning and organising Works well in a team and independently

Analysing

Learning and researching

Delivering results and meeting customer expectations

Coping with pressure and setbacks

Ability to work well under pressure

Commitment to meet daily targets and SLA’s

Self-motivated

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Life Insurance Claims processing and assessing

Minimum of 1 years’ experience in assessing the validity of retrenchment benefit claims in particular
