Job Description:

A world-class base PGM Metals development project based in SA has an exciting opportunity for Community Specialist. Identify, design, develop, plan, manage, implement, monitor and report on the Company’s projects according to Company processes and relevant legal/regulatory requirements on Community Development, Local Economic Development/Social, Economic Development/Economic Development etc. Mining/Metals industry/sector experience is essential. EE/AA position

Main job function

Identify, design, develop, plan, manage, implement, monitor and report on the Company’s projects according to Company processes and relevant legal/regulatory requirements:

-        Community Development

-        Local Economic Development

-        Social Development

-        Economic Development

Support, participate in and manage stakeholder engagement

Conduct analyses to understand local/provincial socio-political, socio-economic and relevant legal/regulatory environment in which the Company operates in

Priorities plans, including conducting a social baseline/community needs assessment to understand the local community context.

Ensure in-depth understanding of Mining Charter; BBBEE; Social and Labour Plans; Guidelines/Local Economic Development (LED) national framework/mining charter/municipality's Industry Development Plans (IDP's) etc.

Support manager stakeholder affairs to develop/update the company

Engage local communities/municipality to identify/agree on projects,

Identify LED/ Social and Economic Development (SED)/Economic Development (ED) projects

Develop high level scope per LED project.

Identify enterprises to be included in ED programme and collaborate with SCM regarding the development needs of identified suppliers

Support coordination of community development forums and ensure accurate record keeping for reporting purposes

Participate in relevant internal/external community development forums as required

Support risk management processes/systems for community development

Identify and analyse risks related to LED/SED/ED projects

Ensure all initiatives are delivered in accordance with the Company, stakeholder affairs, stakeholder management, corporate communication and community development policies, guidelines, procedures etc.

Adhere to sound corporate governance principles

Develop LED/SED/ED project proposals including ECF/EF documentation, project goals/objectives, project budget, project milestones, impact map etc. and submit to senior specialist community projects and manager stakeholder affairs for review.

Project management:

-        Oversee implementation of LED/SED/ED projects

-        Report on progress to manager/community stakeholders

-        Evaluate impact of projects (SROI) at set intervals,

-        Manage project budget,

-        Track expenditure,

-        Develop work plans etc.

Develop/build harmonious and sustainable relations with the Company’s community development stakeholders

Develop understanding of the Company’s community development stakeholders' expectations, concerns, needs and views

Track community stakeholders' perceptions/opinions relating to the Company community development initiatives.

Collaborate with senior specialist stakeholder management to utilise protocols, tools, guidelines etc. and to develop material to streamline and support community stakeholder interactions.

Report on stakeholder interactions and outcomes as well as stakeholder issues and concerns  

Support manager stakeholder affairs to proactively identify, anticipate, analyse and flag community stakeholders' risks and issues.

Communicate frequently with community stakeholders re the status of LED/SED/ED projects.

Participate in relevant stakeholder, provincial/local authorities and industry forums as required

Qualifications:

Relevant tertiary degree

Post- Graduate diploma or degree

Experience:

Community development

Local Economic Development

Social Development

Economic Development

Business development or enterprise development experience.

Understanding of the Mining Charter

3-5 years Relevant experience in community development including

Project development & Management experience

Management and implementation

Stakeholder engagement.

Own vehicle

Valid Driver’s License
