Main job function
The main purpose of this role is to identify and pursue opportunities to develop, expand and enhance the companies Wallet and VAS business. The Commercial Business Developer reports directly to the Head of Wallet and VAS. They are responsible for developing a strategic plan to expand the Wallet and VAS business. This position is responsible for identifying ways in which the Wallet and VAS business can be more competitive, productive and efficient. A key aspect of this role is to grow the business by driving scale as well as expanding product offerings to existing and new markets. Internal Liaison takes place across internal departments. External liaison takes place with potential partners, regulators and service providers.
Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
Relevant tertiary qualification in Marketing/Journalism/Advertising (Essential)
2- 4 years’ experience as a Business Developer (Essential)
Experience in a financial services or similar industry would be highly advantageous
Knowledge of payments and remittances
Knowledge of business-to-business sales and proposal writing
Knowledge of contracts and commercial agreements
Knowledge of operating license requirements
Duties and responsibilities (include but is not limited to):
To drive market penetration, market development, product development as well as diversification of the Wallet and VAS business
To develop new business opportunities to expand the Wallet and VAS business
Identify opportunities to expand product and services range offered
Research all options for VAS products and partnerships in the specific country or region Ensure opportunities are strategically and legally viable
Establish cost of different opportunities
Identify feasible options and draft proposals
Establish a base of contacts in order to develop prospects and leads with various potential partners
Negotiate with potential partners in order to obtain mutually beneficial signed contracts
To negotiate and close new partnerships
To oversee the successful implementation of plans in conjunction with other departments
To understand the market dynamics to enable decision making
Keep abreast the current future market trends and industry changes
Identify competitors and keep up to date on their business models (e.g. suppliers, platforms, pricing, product offerings, customer retention strategies, etc)
To manage own professional and self-development
