Job Description:

A company based in Ladysmith is seeking a Buyer to join their team. The successful incumbent will be reporting into the Procurement Manager and will be responsible for the procurement of quality goods and services at the best price and delivery times from approved resources

Main job function

Working on the various tasks related to the Procurement BEE Scorecard, including supplier development

Request quotations from suppliers according to the specification

Generate PO’s in SAP and send to suppliers once approved

Expediting of orders, current and outstanding orders to obtain on time delivery

Draw up invitation to tender document and control tender process

Conduct market research for new suppliers that add value and can fulfill Company requirements

Setting up and negotiating contracts for products and services

Contribute to the purchasing administration tasks

Ad-hoc Purchasing functions


Relevant Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain/Engineering


Understand commercial terms and conditions and the business impact thereof

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to sustain good relationships with Supplier

Teamwork and self-motivation

Maintaining focus on company and departmental goals

Strong planning, negotiation and communication skills

Understanding of import procedures and related documentation

Attention to detail and good time management skills

Be deadline driven with good problem solving

Be able to work under pressure

MS Office with advanced Excel skills
