A great opportunity exists for a Technical Specialist in the Western Cape with a large organisation.
To operationalise world class services to ensure the Company business systems are accessed cost effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications
• Oracle Certification (non-negotiable requirement)
Experience/Criteria
Technical and Functional
• Minimum 5 years of experience
• Performance monitoring and tuning
• Oracle RAC and ASM
• SQL, PL/SQL coding skills
• Performance Tuning
• RMAN Backups
• Experience with data warehouses
• Experience with OLTP systems
• Experience with SAN’s
• Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
• Experience working with UNIX (AIX beneficial)

Main Job Function
• Understand and keep abreast of the Company IT infrastructure by using the appropriate internal sources of information
• Operations management of incidents and problems in this area with 3rd party service providers
• Understand and keep abreast of non-technical factors that have a direct bearing on technological decisions such as budget constraints and business objectives by establishing business contacts and doing appropriate fact finding
• Track compliance to the Governance process with 3rd party Service providers
• Test Manager – responsible to arrange testing of new technologies derived from approved business cases – Manage implementation thereof
• Maintain and analyse internal records of problem causes and resolutions, identify trends and modify the resolution actions to prevent recurrence
• Communicate progress, status, events, planned activities, issues to all relevant parties
• Ensure that team members, management and other staff members working in related areas of technical concern are informed on all relevant technical decisions, discoveries, practices, processes, knowledge and information
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with other Company structures
• Ensure that sustainability and impact of the administration of technical solutions are understood and taken into account when technical solutions are proposed
• Propose continuous improvement with regards technology being used to improve business processes.
• Ensure compliance to standards set with compliance monitoring methodologies
• Propose continuous enhancements to processes where applicable
